A barber in Asaba was reportedly assulted today by some soldiers for cutting a wrong hairstyle on his daughter. Activist, Prince Gwamnishu who shared the story online wrote Received a call from a barber to please rescue his boy from further maltreatment by soldiers (fully dressed in Army Uniform). We couldn't get to the scene due to wrong address giving by the caller. (Apologies). WHAT HAPPENED The man who led the soldiers took her daughter to the saloon yesterday to cut her hair and told the barber the hair style he want for his daughter. Unfortunately, the barber couldn't perfect the hair style and the man refused to pay, took her daughter to another barber shop. At about 9:46am, this morning he stormed the barber shop with soldiers and assaulted the barber. We asked the neighbors around and they gave same statement. Nigerian singer,  Niniola , who is currently in  South Africa  promoting her latest single ' Magun ', featuring gqom singer  Busiswa , was reportedly robbed on Wednesday night, at  McDonald ’s restaurant in Grayston drive, Sandton. The ' Maradona ' singer was having a meal with two other friends when they were attacked by a gang of three armed robbers at the popular restaurant. According to an eyewitness, Niniola’s bag and cell phone were taken while two of her friends were robbed of jewellery and cash worth R300,000 (N8,515,966.53) Sandton police spokesman,  Captain Granville Meyer , confirmed that a case of robbery was opened by Niniola’s friend on Wednesday night, Sowetanlive reported. The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, CBCN, has fixed Tuesday, May 22, as a day of protests for Catholic faithful across the country. The announcement was made by the bishops in the Sunday Bulletin of the church and circulated to all the dioceses of the church in the country last month. The announcement, entitled “Peaceful Demonstration,” read:   “The CBCN has directed that every Diocese in Nigeria should organise a peaceful demonstration/ rally against the barbaric but intolerable killing of two priests and 17 others by herdsmen last month in Benue State, Date May 22, 2018. Time:10am, as the funeral of the innocent victims would be going on. Details of how this all important solidarity action will take place in our dioceses will be communicated through the parish priests. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, today upgraded his official website, www.osgf.gov.ng, built at a cost of N64 million. At the launch of the website, the SGF said that the old official website which was created on an old technology that had limited features, lacked security features and was not compliant to the Executive Order 001, among other restrictions. ''The federal government had allocated N65m for the portal in the 2017 budget. There was a contract in 2017. The figure is in the public domain. It is about N64m including procurement of laptops, training, consultancy services. The contract was awarded by the Bureau of Public Procurement in accordance with the procurement act.” he said Mustapha said that the upgraded website is about bringing governance to Nigerians and getting them involved in the process. The SGF said the upgraded website has a number of components that will add value to information disseminated to public.

Two off-duty NYPD cops, one of whom was the groom on his wedding day, were killed Sunday night when their rented Maserati crashed, authorities said Monday. Michael Colangelo, a 31-year-old officer with the NYPD who had just gotten married, and Detective John M. Martinez, 39, who was assigned to Brooklyn’s 84th Precinct, were killed in the crash in Ulster County, state police said. Both men, who lived on Long Island, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Oliverea Road in the town of Shandaken. A third person in the car, a 28-year-old man from Wantagh, LI, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was rushed to Albany Medical Center.
